Style Diary – Camel Coat

Work Week - Camel Coat

Camel Coat

Yes, we all need one.  No…we do.  Let’s just accept this as fact and get one.  One less decision to make, right?

Where to Wear?

Certainly wear this to work, wear it to dinner, church, cocktail party, drinks after work, etc.  This is one of those outfits that is appropriate for most occasions that come your way.

Investment Pieces

Let’s just say all of these pieces are an investment.  That will just make things easier.  And on this post, we are all about easy.

Thoughts

Remember how we discussed the cost of certain pieces in my sets?  You don’t.  Well, that is certainly OK.  Let’s discuss it again, then.

I choose pieces that will be most flattering in the creation of the set.  Some of these pieces, like the VB dress shown, are quite expensive.  I am not suggesting that you go and buy these expensive pieces (although if your budget allows, then by all means, go for it), I am recommending the “look” that the pieces are showing.

You can create most of my looks by purchasing all of the pieces at Forever 21, let’s say, and spend less than $100 on the entire outfit – including the purses. (But probably not including the jewelry – sorry for that).

So, purchase your clothes wisely.  If you like the look that is presented in the sets I show you, then by all means, imitate it, but do so while staying within your budget.  Yes, you do have a budget – we all do.  We shall discuss that at a later date. 🙂  You are wise consumers!  Way to go!

Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by.

Fondly Sonya

Casual Friday Jeans 2

Casual Friday Jeans

Casual Friday Look 2

This time, we have changed the color palette and paired the jeans with a white tee, a blazer and flats.  We all probably have these items in our closet, right?

Adding the tee and flats makes this outfit look a bit more casual than yesterday’s look.  The blazer and structured purse balance the look to make it more work appropriate.

Happy work day everyone.

White Tee Basics

White Tee Basics

White Tees

This white tee can be worn under blazers for work, as we have seen earlier this week, it can be worn as shown for a casual Friday look, it can be worn with faded, ripped jeans for a more casual look and on and on.  White tees are certainly a wardrobe staple.

When selecting a white tee, choose one that is the perfect shade of white – keeping in mind that stark white is not the best look on all of us.  Some of us look better in a softer, less bright, white.  In addition, select a fabric and style that suits you.

You need to love this white tee, so be selective, shop around and choose very carefully.  If you do these things, then this tee will become a workhorse.

Where to Wear?

Wear this look to work on a casual Friday, wear it to brunch, to the movies, on a date, out with friends, etc.  This is one of those looks that can be worn on many days, for many events and occasions.

Investment Pieces

The white tee is a must investment piece, the blazer may be one if that color is one of yours, the jewelry is certainly an investment.  As far as the shoes and purse go, they may be investment pieces if bright yellow coordinates beautifully with the rest of your wardrobe.

Thoughts

We love Fridays, don’t we?  Wearing this fun look makes Friday even more special.  I must admit, though, I think I am less productive on Fridays than the other days of the week.  I wonder if it is because of my casual looks?

What are y’alls thoughts on productivity and Fridays?  Do you think you get less done on a Friday than any other day of the week?  If you answered yes, then it is probably because of the casual attire.  If you don’t believe me, then do an experiment and don’t wear a casual outfit on a random Friday and see if you are more productive that day.  Let me know what you find out.

You know, with this experimenting business, y’all are just like scientist.  Good job, I knew you were intelligent!

Happy, happy hour, today!!  Be safe and have a relaxing two days off.

Black and White for Work

More Stripes at Work

This outfit is one of my early creations on Polyvore.  Since it had a striped skirt in it, I thought I would share it with you this week.  Our stripes week.  🙂

What do you think of stripes on a skirt?  This is certainly an interesting look, taking three patterns, and putting them together.  It looks fine in the grouping above, but I wonder how it would look in real life?

Where to Wear

Wear this to work and to all other conservative events or occasions.  Even wear it to not so conservative events, why not?

Investment Pieces

The coat, shoes, bag, earings, watch and even the scarf are great investment pieces.  I probably wouldn’t spend too much money on the sweater and skirt.

Thoughts

It’s Wednesday and by the end of today, your work week is more than half over.  How are you doing on your weekly to-do-list?

Even up at out lake house, I have managed to squeeze in some work.  At least I’ve checked my work emails.  I didn’t want to come back to work on Monday and have 18K unread emails in my inbox.

Yes, I am exaggerating on the 18K emails.  But when you return from vacation, when you open your mailbox, doesn’t it seem like you have 18K unread emails?

Happy day, my lovely ladies and gentlemen.

Over the Knee Boots

Over the Knee Boots, Two

Over the Knee Boots

What do y’all think of over the knee boots?  The color of the ones above are amazing – so sophisticated and elegant.

Where to Wear

Wear this in a creative office environment, to dinner, walking the streets of New York or Chicago, to a dinner party, maybe even Christmas eve dinner.  I love all of the pieces in this outfit!!

Here is another outfit idea with over the knee boots.  Have a wonderful week-end, y’all!!

Work Week – Lace and Tomato

Work Week - Lace and Tomato

Tomato

According to my new Nordstrom’s catalog, tomato is a hot color for Fall, 2015.  In fact all hues from the seventies are “hot” for fall.  I’m glad, actually, because I love all of the seventies colors – I just don’t care to wear all of them together in one outfit.  That style is a bit too bold for my taste – however, when worn by the right individual, it looks chic and confident.

What do y’all think of the seventies colors?

Lace at Work

Lace is so feminine and classy.  I love lace and try to find ways to wear it to the office.  In this outfit, the tomato blazer takes some of the focus away from the lace skirt and makes the entire outfit appear conservative and work appropriate.  Of course, if you work in a less formal office, wear lace any way you like.

Where to Wear

Obviously, this is a great outfit for work.  It can also be worn to church, brunch, dinner, the theater, symphony, and any number of occasions.  The pencil skirt, blazer and pumps formula works pretty well in most social settings, don’t you think?

Thanks for stopping by darlings!!

Marsala

Work Week - Fall Ready

Marsala

What do y’all think of the color, marsala?  I really like it.  It reminds me of my favorite adult beverage – red wine.  I think I may pick up a couple of items in this color for the fall and incorporate them into my wardrobe.  This is a pretty neutral color and can go well with most colors.  I’m liking the combinations with black and gray.

Here are a few items I put together with marsala as either the focal point as in the outfit above, or as an accent color.

Enjoy!!  Thanks for stopping by.
