Same Idea - 2 Price Points - Gray Pants

Two Price Points

Let’s face it, the amount of money a teacher can spend on clothes is less than what an executive has available to spend.  Therefore, the items these two women purchase will most likely be very different.

However, just because the pieces of clothing will be different, it doesn’t mean that the overall “look” has to be significantly different, right?

Shown above is a very similar look, but with a very different overall price tag.

Where to Wear?

Let’s just keep it simple, today.  Wear these looks to work.

Investment Pieces

Pants, shoes, purses, watches, and pearl earings.  I can see you wearing these pieces over and over again.  Can’t you?

Thoughts

It’s Monday morning.  However, that is perfectly fine with you because you are ready for the week.  This past weekend, you did laundry, you chose your outfits for this week, you planned your lunches and dinners, and you got that manicure and pedicure that has been on your to-do-list for three weeks.  (Wow, that’s so weird, that’s been on my list, too).

A bit too ambitious?  Well, let’s say that you only did one of these things.  That’s alright, because every little bit helps.

I cannot stress enough how important it is to prepare for the week ahead.  It does not really matter whether you are an executive at a large corporation or an elementary school teacher.  Preparation is equally important to all of us.

Let’s take on this week and show it what we are made of…determination, courage, excellence, and perseverance.   Yes, you are made of all those things, plus more!!

Thanks for stopping by and have an amazing week.

Fondly, Sonya

Investment – White Dress

Little White Dress

White Dress

A white dress is a perfect addition to any of our wardrobes. It is ideal for summer and for almost any occasion – except perhaps a summer wedding.  White can be dressed up with heels, nice jewelry and a clutch. It can be dressed down with some flat sandals, a tote and a casual cardigan.

For work, just throw on a blazer, some pumps and your satchel, and you will look professional and polished.

I found a LWD at Banana Republic a couple of years ago that was a great fit, perfect style and made of a terrific fabric.  At the time, I was looking for a black dress and bought the black one of this same style.  I really wanted to buy the white one, too, but because of the price, I opted for only one.  Each time I wear this black dress (which I absolutely love), I kick myself for not buying the white one, too.  Lesson, ladies…if you find a dress that is an absolute perfect fit, – buy it in more than one color.

Weekend Wear

I love how this outfit came together.  I only own the watch and earings, but am thinking about ordering the rest.  I think I can wear this outfit all summer long and not get tired of it.  The color of the purse is gorgeous and those sandals would go with everything.  I wonder if the heel strap stays in place, though?  It would be a bummer if it kept slipping off of your heel.  No fun in that.

The shorts would probably work with a black and white striped top.  I think other colored tops would work great with these shorts, too, just keep those solid.

Investment Pieces – Pencil Skirts

Versatile Pencil Skirts

Investment Pieces – Pencil Skirts

A pencil skirt works well in a work environment.  I wear mine with blazers, cardigans, sweaters, etc.  I love all the ones shown above.  Not all of us can invest in all of these at once.  I suggest starting with the neutral colors like black, navy, and cream first, then building on from there.  The above colors are just a suggestion.  If you work in a less conservative work environment, you may want skirts with bolder colors and prints.

I have wide hips, so it’s hard for me to find brands that work well for my body type.  If I find a pencil skirt that fits my hips, then it’s too big for my waist.  So, the best practice for me is to buy a skirt that’s a bit too big then have it altered. Because I know this about my body, I usually wait for sales, knowing I’ll have to pay a bit more for alteration.

Wearing a pencil skirt with pumps always makes me feel professional, put together and powerful.  Who doesn’t want to feel like that?
