Casual Friday Jeans 4

Casual Friday Look 4

Are you beginning to see that all you need for casual Friday’s is one pair of  conservative styled, great fitting pair of jeans?  With that one pair, you can create multiple looks, both in style and color to create variety and interest.

This look takes basic black – in the jeans and striped shirt, and ads camel toned accessories to give it a more interesting, put together look.  What do you think?

If your look and style is not as conservative as this, no worries.  What I am attempting to show you is the “idea” of how to put together an office-friendly Friday casual look.  If you are still having problems, let me know and I can see what we can do for you.

The last casual Friday look will be tomorrow.  By now, you are either glad that these posts are almost over, or you can’t wait to see the exciting, interesting look I have to show you.  Either way, see you tomorrow and Happy Thursday!

Mini With Pink

Cute Pink

Mini Skirts

The mini skirt above is quite unusual and “cute.”

The look of the outfit is a bit young, but the purse, cardigan and jewelry are more mature and sophisticated.  The shoes are both – young / cute and mature / sophisticated.

Don’t you love when you find a pair of shoes that can be worn by you and your sixteen-year-old daughter?

Where to Wear?

Wear this look shopping, to a girly event like a fashion show, to meet friends for lunch, to a party, to brunch, etc.

Investment Pieces

At first, I was going to say, nothing, but as I look at each of the pieces again, with the exception of the skirt, I love all of these as investment pieces.  I am loving those shoes.

A busy week at work – closing out the month and the quarter which means added work in a shorter period of time.  I don’t mind, though.  I like my job and when I’m busy, the day goes by faster.

Does the thought of “when will this day ever end” go through your mind while you are at work?  If so, maybe you should start looking for something else.  Believe me, life is too short to be working somewhere where you feel miserable.  Your job should bring joy and satisfaction and getting up each morning and heading to work should invoke happiness and eagerness.

Now, before you go and quit that job you are not loving, remember, you should have a new one lined up first.

Happy day, my friends.  Fondly, Sonya

Wardrobe Basics – Black Flats

Work Week - Casual Friday

Black Flats

Yes, we should all have a pair.  Choose a pair that is comfortable, compliments your feet, and just looks good.  Black flats are available from most designers and most non-designers.  Choose a pair that fits your budget and looks expensive.

Where to Wear?

Wear this look on casual Friday at work, wear it to brunch, lunch, dinner.  Wear it to church, meeting parents, visiting those who are in the hospital – that bright skirt will liven up any drab, sad environment.

This is a very casual, conservative look and can be worn most places.

The black flats are an investment piece, for sure.  If orange is your color, than the skirt would be a nice addition to your wardrobe.  That shirt is so easy to wear with just about anything, it certainly could qualify as an investment.  Of course the purse, watch and earings are investments, too.

The bright orange skirt looks beautiful paired with the basic colors of black and white.  It gets to shine, without glaring, don’t you think?

Do y’all own a bright skirt?  With what color do you pair it?

Have a wonderful day.  Fondly, Sonya

Denim Delight

Denim Delight

Denim Bits

When we think of denim, of course, we think of jeans.  But there are so many things made using denim such as purses, jackets, upholstery, shoes, shirts, etc.

How many denim “things” do you own?  Do you like denim?

The denim purse in the outfit is so interesting.  It is one of those pieces that can be worn over and over again.  Can you picture it as it ages?  Don’t you think it would look even better then?  Many things look better once they’ve aged a bit – I know I do.  🙂

Where to Wear?

Wear this outfit to work on casual Friday, wear it shopping, wear it to brunch, wear it to a movie, to a casual lunch or dinner, wear it on a night out with your friends.  There are many places and events where this outfit would be appropriate.

Investment Pieces

Let’s just make it simple, because sometimes, that’s the best way, and say that all of these pieces can qualify as an investment piece.

My week at work this week is going to be very, very busy.  We are closing out the month and the quarter so my work load is double that which is normal.  I don’t mind, really.  I like my job and know that these long weeks are just a part of it.

How does y’all’s week look?  Do you struggle getting up in the morning and getting yourself to work?  I don’t struggle in the mornings any more.  I find that liking your job makes a huge difference.  Also, if I like what I am wearing, that makes a difference, too.  I know it sounds shallow, but I believe there is truth in that.

If we like what we are wearing, our day is usually better!

Have a great week, my friends.  Fondly, Sonya

Take Me Out

Take Me Out

How often do you match your clothes to your lipstick?  No, not your lipstick to your clothes, but the other way around.

Have you taken a lip color and then put an outfit together to match it?  Actually, I don’t think I’ve ever done this, either.  But it could be interesting, right?

In the outfit above, that is exactly what I tried.  Taking a beautiful, and bright, pink lipstick, I worked the outfit around it.  What do you think, good idea?

How about coordinating your earings with your purse?  Again, it could be fun.

Seriously, though, let us not take this post too seriously…we are just trying to add a little fun in getting dressed, today.

Where to Wear?

I know it is Friday, but even for a casual Friday at work, I don’t recommend wearing torn jeans to most offices.  There are exceptions, of course.

Wear this look on a Friday night, having drinks or dinner with friends, to a concert, sure, wear it to brunch, to a creative office environment where there is no dress code, to a professional basketball game, and anywhere else that is not conservative in nature.

Investment Pieces

Of course the watch (love and own this one), perhaps the bag and earings if these colors work with the rest of your wardrobe.

The watch shown here by Shinola is one that I own and love.  (No, I am not receiving any compensation for saying that…I’m just in love with the watch.  Can a person be in love with on inanimate object?)

Have a wonderful day, my friends.  Enjoy the rest of your week end.  As always, have fun and be safe!

Ruffles at Work and Play

Ruffles at Work and Play

One Dress – Two Ways

We are continuing our ruffles theme this week with a ruffled dress, this time.

This is a beautiful (and expensive) dress from Victoria Beckham.  What do you think about the two ways it is styled, above?

If you are going to invest that much money on one dress, my thought is that you should have multiple ways in which you could style it.

To make a dress work for work (yes, I meant to say that), simply add a blazer, closed toed pumps, conservative jewelry and a tote or satchel.

Then, for dinner, or an evening look, take off the blazer, add some fun, strappy (no, “strappy” is not really a word, but it should be, – it means, shoes with straps) shoes, change out your jewelry to something more bold, big and bouncy (I’m not sure what I mean by bouncy jewelry – I needed another B word and couldn’t think of a better one), and lastly, add an interesting clutch

Where to Wear?

The first look can be worn to work, to Easter brunch, on Mother’s Day, to the theater, to a work dinner, to any number of conservative occasions or events.

The second look can be worn to Easter brunch and Mother’s Day brunch, too,  to a fancy dinner, to the opera, to a cocktail party, to a baby’s christening, and to many other “dressy” events or occasions. Let your imagination soar…

Investment Pieces

As I look at all of the items in this post, I can see how each and every one of them could be an investment piece, except maybe the “strappy” heels.  Although, you could argue that “strappy” heels have been popular for a few years now.  I know…it’s not nice to argue…in this case, we are just having a discussion, right?  How about if you decide on the “strappy” heels for yourselves?  A win-win sort of thing.

What do y’all think about making a few changes to an outfit and taking it from one type of event, like work, to another, like dinner?

I have been using this “strategy” for a long time and it has worked pretty well.

Are you tired of ruffles, yet, or may I post one more day that’s ruffled themed?  I may…well, thanks y’all, that’s one of the reasons I like you so much – you are so agreeable.

See you tomorrow with our last ruffled theme outfit of the week.  I know, you can hardly contain yourselves.  🙂

Stripes at Play

Stripes at Play

Going Out Stripes

Are y’all going out, tonight?  If you are, try an all black outfit – especially one that incorporates that striped shirt we are loving this week.

An all black outfit is pretty timeless and usually quite dramatic.  If you don’t look good in black, then this is not the look for you. (Sorry about that).

Where to Wear?

Wear this on a date, to a concert, drinks with friends, and anywhere where the look is less than conservative.

Investment Pieces

The shirt, jacket, watch, and sunglasses are investment pieces that would be stylish for years.  I love the purse, and it too is an investment piece.

I’m not sure about the boots…I’ll let y’all decide about those.

I was facetiming (is that even a word) with my 26-year-old daughter last Saturday night at around 9:30 p.m. as she was getting ready to go out.  I can certainly see someone her age wearing the outfit above and rocking it!!  Someone my age…probably not so much – we’d look like we were trying too hard, right?

Do all of you young ladies start your week-end evenings so late?  Really??  Well, have fun, then, and as always, don’t overdo it!!
