Style Diary – Ugly Shoes

Style Diary - Ugly Shoes

Ugly Shoes

Do you wear “ugly” shoes?  I put the word ugly in quotation marks because it is so subjective.  My ugly, may be your beautiful.  And my beautiful, may be your ugly.  You get it.

To me, because I happen to dress more elegantly, anything big, clunky, and manly looking can be ugly.  To my sixteen-year-old daughter, Kate, anything with a pointy toe (which is pretty much all I wear) is ugly.  (You can be sure that I don’t ask her if she likes my shoes).

Where to Wear?

The outfit above is fun.  Wear it to brunch, on a date, out with friends, to a very fashionable, creative office, shopping, sight-seeing.  If you change out the shoes and throw on some pretty sandals or pumps, you may be able to wear this look to a shower, a wedding, cocktail party, in other words, a more formal occasion.

Investment Pieces

All of the jewelry would be investment pieces.  The purse is pretty conservative and may be something you wear for a few years.  The midi skirt and crop top are pretty trendy, so maybe not for them.  The jacket would be an investment piece, assuming this mustard color works well with the rest of your wardrobe.  Those ugly shoes – well, you know how I feel about those, right?

Have you had those weeks at work where every thing seemed off?  Where “you” seemed off?  That’s the type of week I have had.  I couldn’t quite put my finger on it, but knew that something wasn’t “right”.

I am a “highly sensitive person” or, HSP, and because of that I am learning to trust my intuition and feelings more and more.  In fact, I am trying to rely on this intuition more in learning the truth, than I rely on the meaning of the words spoken.

Are you an HSP?  Do you know what that is?  Check out Dr. Elaine Aron’s website and her book The Highly Sensitive Person.  She will tell you all about it.  She’s the expert on HSP’s.

See…when you come to my blog, not only do you dress cute, but you also learn so much about the inner workings of your mind.  I am proud of you for putting equal energy on fashion and learning about your mind.  I always knew you were bright!!!

Have a great Saturday my friends, thanks for stopping by.

Fondly, Sonya

Mini With Pink

Cute Pink

Mini Skirts

The mini skirt above is quite unusual and “cute.”

The look of the outfit is a bit young, but the purse, cardigan and jewelry are more mature and sophisticated.  The shoes are both – young / cute and mature / sophisticated.

Don’t you love when you find a pair of shoes that can be worn by you and your sixteen-year-old daughter?

Where to Wear?

Wear this look shopping, to a girly event like a fashion show, to meet friends for lunch, to a party, to brunch, etc.

Investment Pieces

At first, I was going to say, nothing, but as I look at each of the pieces again, with the exception of the skirt, I love all of these as investment pieces.  I am loving those shoes.

A busy week at work – closing out the month and the quarter which means added work in a shorter period of time.  I don’t mind, though.  I like my job and when I’m busy, the day goes by faster.

Does the thought of “when will this day ever end” go through your mind while you are at work?  If so, maybe you should start looking for something else.  Believe me, life is too short to be working somewhere where you feel miserable.  Your job should bring joy and satisfaction and getting up each morning and heading to work should invoke happiness and eagerness.

Now, before you go and quit that job you are not loving, remember, you should have a new one lined up first.

Happy day, my friends.  Fondly, Sonya

Cropped Hoodie Chic

Cropped Hoodie Chic

A Cropped Hoodie

Why not, right?  Who doesn’t need a new cropped hoodie?  I know I am teasing, but the one shown is actually quite cute.

This outfit was duplicating the look of the model shown.  If you actually wear this look, but do not wish to bear your mid-section, just add a long tank underneath the hoodie.

The hoodie is the highlight of this outfit, but what about those sneakers.  Love, love, love.  Aren’t these the perfect shade of pink?

Where to Wear?

Wear this look lounging around on a Saturday afternoon, wear it shopping, to the grocery store, the movies…and all other very casual events and places.

Investment Pieces

For investment pieces, probably the shoes, the purse, watch and earings.  Jeans can be an investment piece, but probably not these.

When I was younger, I loved these type of outfits – so comfortable and casual.  Now that I am older, my look is more polished and less casual.  But that’s OK, we all change as we mature.  It is how it is supposed to be.

Have a relaxing, casual day, today.

Fondly, Sonya

Ruffles at Work

Ruffles at Work

More ruffles, today.  This time around, ruffles on a skirt.  Are you a fan?

Ruffles are so feminine, even as styled above with a blazer and pumps.  Wouldn’t this be a fun skirt to wear?

Where to Wear?

Wear this type of outfit to work, to Sunday brunch, to dinner, to a wedding shower, to the theater, on Mother’s Day, Easter brunch, etc.  It’s a classic, conservative outfit and can be worn to many, many events and occasions.

Investment Pieces

All of these pieces in this outfit could be investment pieces.  Those earings are beautiful, I want them.  I have a pair of pumps from Ann Taylor that are a similar color to the ones above and I have worn them and have loved them for many years.  They are a great color and a timeless look.

Easter is really early this year.  It’s going to be here before you know it.  Do y’all buy a new dress for Easter each year?

When I was growing up, one of the things I loved about Easter was that my sister and I would get a new dress.  Growing up, we didn’t have many clothes, so that new dress at Easter time was a great treat.

Maybe I’ll buy a new dress or maybe this lovely ruffled skirt for Easter this year.  Even as an adult, getting new clothes still makes me feel happy.

Have a wonderful day, my friends.
