Investment Piece – Blazer
A white blazer is perfect for a summer work wardrobe. Choose one that is flattering on you and if necessary, get it altered so that it fits you perfectly.
It’s so versatile, it can be worn with just about anything, to pretty much most events, not just work. It’s perfect with a dress, elevates a shorts outfit, and looks dressy and put-together with jeans.
When I was shopping with my mom in March, I picked up a BCBG white blazer similar to the one shown above. The fit was great, except for the sleeves – they were too long. I must admit, that beautiful blazer is still sitting in my closet, unworn, because I have been very lazy and have not taken it to the tailor to have the sleeves altered. Shame on me…the summer is practically over. Yes, it is going on my to-do-list, immediately.
Investment Piece – Red Bag
Red bags are “special,” at least that is what I think. This one is no exception. It’s so beautiful and certainly an investment piece to cherish.
My red bag is not quite this structured or expensive. I still love it, though, and wear it to work as well as to dinner, movies, just about anywhere. What do y’all think about red bags?
Investment Piece – Leopard Pumps
What’s not to love…again, these can be worn to work, church, movies, dinner, weddings, just about anywhere. In addition, pair them with dresses, jeans, skirts.
Investment Piece – A full Skirt
A full skirt is perfect for those days when you don’t want the slimming look of a pencil skirt or fitted dress. Fuller skirts move as you walk and are a nice change from the pencil skirt. With a full skirt, as with the pencil skirt, make sure the length is flattering on you and complements your legs.
My advise on purchasing investment pieces is, don’t buy it just because it is expensive, or on sale or that you need it. Buy it because you love it and you will wear it often – probably the two most important criteria to use when contemplating purchasing an investment piece.
